Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme - Home and Residential Care
Previously known as the Community Visitors Scheme until 30th June 2023, the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) helps to establish links between people living in aged care facilities and their homes with their community.
The fundamental aim is to improve the quality of life of residents or home recipients who have limited family and social contact and who may be at risk of isolation from the general community for social and cultural reasons or through disability. The program provides socially isolated residential and home recipients with regular contact from an appropriately matched volunteer visitors.
The Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre Inc has been involved in this invaluable and greatly beneficial program for the elderly in the Italian community since its inception in 1992.
The ACVVS is part of the Commonwealth Government’s initiatives to enhance the rights of older people living in residential aged care facilities or at home, and we are most appreciative of its continued funding and support.
