Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme - Home and Residential Care

Previously known as the Community Visitors Scheme until 30th June 2023, the Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) helps to establish links between people living in aged care facilities and their homes with their community.

The fundamental aim is to improve the quality of life of residents or home recipients who have limited family and social contact and who may be at risk of isolation from the general community for social and cultural reasons or through disability. The program provides socially isolated residential and home recipients with regular contact from an appropriately matched volunteer visitors.

The Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre Inc has been involved in this invaluable and greatly beneficial program for the elderly in the Italian community since its inception in 1992.

The ACVVS is part of the Commonwealth Government’s initiatives to enhance the rights of older people living in residential aged care facilities or at home, and we are most appreciative of its continued funding and support.

Hear from our community

I wish to express my gratitude for the truly excellent services provided by the Italo-Australian Welfare & Cultural Centre Inc. I am most grateful for the constant care, kindness and support given to my mother by the support workers, aged care team and senior management. Thank you for always promptly attending to my requests and for your diligence in providing the best of care to my mother at home. You are an amazing organisation!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank you most sincerely for sending me my guardian angel to care for me. I am absolutely over the moon having her around. She is a gift from the Universe!

Throughout the years all staff have been compassionate, caring and helpful and we cannot speak highly enough of them. They have a very caring and empathetic beautiful manner whilst also being professional and efficient in providing us with a seamless service.

We have always found the Centre to be of a very high standard, respectful, able to understand their clients’ cultural needs, and have very proud work ethics. Our mother is extremely well cared for and we are confident that she is in the best of care.

I would like to express my appreciation for the home care that our parents are receiving. It is always a pleasure to walk in and see the carers actively involved with our parents. To see that they genuinely care is something that is rare in today’s society. Your organisation and its help has allowed us to keep our parents at home, a place where they are comfortable, close to family and friends. The level of care that they receive is excellent, and the patience and understanding that are demonstrated by all of your care team is extremely commendable.
